How to Use This Guide

1. QUESTS: Right from the get-go, you’ll notice that the IPG harnesses the complete potential of quests. At the beginning of each section there will be a subdivision labeled “Quests* that are not only recommended, but in most cases required. This has fourfold benefits: Offers an escape from mindless clicking, unlocks various locations and items, speeds up training, and contains key links with skills you’ll discover later on. It is well worth your while to finish all quests listed under each section, as it will pay great dividends. The quests labeled with an asterisk (*) are MANDATORY while those without are optional.

2. REQUIRED SKILLS/SKILLS ACHIEVED: These are the skills necessary to complete the current section in your quest for Invincibility. Listed at the beginning and end of each section, they denote the respective levels you should have before beginning each section, and what you will have at the completion of each section. If you do not have the required skills for whatever reason, achieve them before continuing with the IPG. The exceptions are the skills linked to optional quests, which you do not need to get if you feel if it wouldn’t benefit you.

3. After you complete the guide, give it a rating out of 100. Suggestions on how to improve the IPG are always appreciated Very Happy

4. But most importantly, have fun!

Section 1: The Basics

QUESTS: Learning the Ropes*

REQUIRED SKILLS: None

Complete Tutorial Island as usual – there’s no need to level up anything here.

After arriving in Lumbridge, immediately head to Barbarian Village. Complete both the Stronghold of Security and the Account Safety mini-quests. This will give you 20K in cash and 2 experience lamps. Additionally, there is a dragon slaying knight in Lumbridge, in the basement of the building just north of the Lumbridge Guide. He will give you 2 more experience lamps just for talking to him. Use all 4 lamps on Prayer.

SKILLS ACHIEVED: 11 Prayer

Section 2: Mind on Money

QUESTS: Rune Mysteries*, Shield of Arrav*

SKILLS REQUIRED: None

Make around 5M on your pure, and you're set for life. Listed below are the best ways to make money at your current level.

-Hunting Polar Kebits: With only 1 hunting required, this is a great way for newcomers to make cash, fast. Head on over to the Trollweiss/Rellekka Hunter area with your noose wand and let ‘er rip. Once you track a Polar Kebit down, drop the meat and bury its bones, but keep the fur, valued at approximately 2,200 gp each. With your noose wand accounted for, each inventory is worth around 60K. If you plan on hunting Polar Kebits all the way, it will take you only 85 inventories for 5M.

-Sponsors: If you have friends who are willing to sponsor you on your IPG challenge, then this method works wonders. Simply buy or cut as many REGULAR logs as possible and fletch them into arrow shafts. Each log makes 15 shafts, valued at 5 gp each. This works out to be 75 gp per log, so you’ll make 37 a gp profit if you buy them from the GE. The beauty of this method is that fletching arrow shafts is just about automatic – very little effort is required. It’s very difficult to sell your arrow shafts on the GE, and this is where your sponsor(s) come in. Have them trade you cash for your arrow shafts, and your sponsors can either use the shafts for junk trading or as assets in the Mobilizing Armies minigame. I don’t recommend doing this all the way, as it can be hard on both you and your sponsor(s), but it** definitely the preferred method of getting fast pocket change.

Section 2: Mind on Money (continued)

-Gathering: Flax and Pure Essence are the two most common items which low leveled players tend to gather for money. Flax is worth around 85 gp each, and can be found en masse south of Seers Village. Each load is worth approximately 2.3K so 2,000 trips are needed for your 5M. Keep in mind that 30 mining is needed in order to mine pure essence. However, pure essence is worth 150 gp each, almost twice the value of flax. You can expect to earn 4.2K in profit from 1 load of pure essence, making it 1,190 trips for 5M. While these methods are boring, its strength lies in the stability of both flax and pure essence. Both are always in demand, and will sell on the GE rather quickly

-GS to GE: Ah…the best for last The methods listed here require a decent amount of startup money to work effectively, so you should have at least 100K before starting. Merchanting is by far the fastest potential way to make money on RuneScape, but with it comes the inherent risk of losing money from price drops. (G)S to GE eliminates that risk, and guarantees you a handsome profit regardless of what the GE does, for you will be buying all items from General Stores at their base price.

Ardougne Water Vials: The general store sells water filled vials for only 10 gp each, which you can then sell on the GE at 95 each. This is approximately 2.3K profit per trip, the equivalent of a full load of flax using only 25% of the time

Rok’s Chocs Box: Located in Nardah, Rok sells chocolate bars for 20 gp each, which you can then sell on the GE at 90 each. This is roughly 1.9K profit per trip, around 400 gp less than a trip at Ardy’s General Store. However, the distance to the bank is also shorter, allowing you to make trips faster.

Section 3: Holiness

QUESTS: The Restless Ghost*, Priest in Peril*, Creature of Frankenstrain*, Ghosts Ahoy*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 25+ Magic, 25 Thieving, 20 Crafting, 20 Cooking, 25 Agility

Complete The Restless Ghost and Priest in Peril Quests. You should by now have at least level 37 Magic. Fire Bolt will make quick work of the skeleton and the guardian beast.

Not many pures will have the ability this early on to do Ghosts Ahoy, but you will. This will give you an additional 2400 Prayer exp, bringing it to 22.

You now have the ability to do Creature of Frankenstrain. This gives you access to level 26 experiments – monsters with 100 HP who hit a maximum of 2. These monsters will prove to be invaluable exp later on, but having access to them now is an added advantage.

Go to the Grand Exchange and buy 181 Dragon Bones. They're around 3K each, so this should cost you no more than 550K. Find a gilded alter and ask politely to use it. With 2 burners lit, the dragon bones will immediately get you to 43 prayer, allowing you to protect from all 3 forms of combat.

It has been brought to my attention that the Guardian Beast in the Priest in Peril Quest is immune to Magic. You should still have no trouble killing it, but if need be, bring 2 rings of recoil to guarantee your success.

Section 4: Achilles Heel

QUESTS: Vampire Slayer*, Death Plateau*, Barcrawl Mini-Quest*, Scorpion Catcher*, Fight Arena*, Plague City*, Biohazard*, Waterfall Quest*, Grand Tree*, Tree Gnome Village*, The Golem*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 43 Prayer, 25 Agility, 35+ Magic

As I’m sure you’ve already noticed, this section is heavy on questing. However, with your new-found prayer abilities, none of the enemies in this section, not even the 172 Black Demon will pose any threat to your pure.

Head over to the Grand Exchange. Stock up on 10 prayer potions and 100 monkfish. At your current level, just 1 monkfish should bring you to full health. While you’re there, feel free to buy yourself a rune scimitar and a rune 2h. You’ll be able to wield them at the end of this section. Complete the quests in the order they are listed above. Refer to the quest guides on the Knowledge Base if necessary. Always bring food, teleports, and at least 1 full prayer potion on all combat related quests. At this point in your journey, you should attack all enemies with magic.

Section 5: Becoming a Champion

QUESTS: Dwarf Cannon*, Dragon Slayer*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 20 Agility, 35+ Magic, 33 Quest Points

Here you are: The first major milestone in your quest to become to strongest pure in all of Runescape. With in introduction of PvP worlds, you no longer have to be in the top fraction of a bounty hunter crater to make kills. On the flip side, players with higher combat levels inherently make more money in PvP than pures with 1 defence. This is because pures have no need for armor, making the amount of wealth they carry significantly lower than someone wearing full rune, for example. This is problematic when you fight them, as they drop close to worthless items upon death. The solution is to level up your combat to a point where the majority of the players you face in PvP wear valuable armor. Therefore, we must let go of the time-honored template of a 1 defence pure in order to move on to something greater, and far more profitable: The Void Pure.

As you have completed so many quests, you are now able to enter the Champion’s Guild. However, before you dirty your hands with Dragon Slayer, it’s necessary to do the Dwarf Cannon quest first. No potion or prayer can protect you from Elvarg’s fire, and at your current level, you’ll need some help.

After you finish Dwarf Cannon, buy a cannon along with 1K cannonballs from the GE. You will be taking this with you when you fight Elvarg. Proceed to collect all 3 pieces of the map, and make your way to Crandor. When you enter the dragon’s lair, turn on Protect from Melee, set up and load your cannon, and attack Elvarg with the strongest magic spell you’ve got. The cannon hits up to 30, so a few good hits should finish her off. Take her head to the Oziach in Edgeville to finish the quest

Congratulations on becoming one of the youngest Champions on Runescape!

Section 6: The Ultimate Hybriding Technique

QUESTS: Black Knight’s Fortress, Ernest the Chicken*, Gertrude’s Cat, Fishing Contest, The Giant Dwarf*, Druidic Ritual*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 10 Fishing, 12 Crafting, 14 Thieving, 16 Firemaking, 55 Magic

This is where making your pure gets really interesting. Head back to the Grand Exchange and buy 1K Yew Longbows and 1K Nature Runes. With all the spell-casting you’ve been doing, you should be relatively close to reaching 55 Magic. If you’re not quite there yet, obtain the levels by any means necessary. I recommend returning to the Fist of Guthix arena. Well done! You have just learned the crucial High Level Alchemy spell!

After you complete The Giant Dwarf, go to the Grand Exchange and pick up a dwarf multi-cannon along with 2K cannonballs. If you don’t have enough money, refer back to Section 3. Withdraw a fire staff, 10 monkfish, 1K noted yew longbows, 1K nature runes, 2K cannonballs, and all the pieces of your dwarf multi-cannon. You have 2 choices here. You can either go to the White Knight’s castle in Falador, or the Gnome Battlefield south of West Ardougne. Both places are multi-combat and have safe spots where you can hide and alch while your cannon blasts away. It’s important that the area is multi-combat, because RuneScape considers the high level alchemy spell an attack, even though it does no damage. In Version 1 of this guide, I recommended cannoning green dragons while alching, but players have informed me that they cannot alch because they’re “already under attack.”

Section 6: The Ultimate Hybriding Technique (continued) ###

If you choose the White Knight’s Castle:

Set up your cannon in the middle of the field and blast away at the White Knights. They have 52 HP each, so the exp here is very good, allowing your cannon to hit up to 30. However, there are 2 drawbacks. The first is that the White Knights will chase and attack you when they get hit by a cannonball. What you do is lock yourself up in the safety of one of the rooms and alch while your cannon does all the work, going back out only to reload. The second drawback is that the drops suck, but there’s not much you can do about that.

If you choose the Gnome Battlefield:

There’s 2 main parts to the Gnome Battlefield, and you’ll want to set up your cannon at the southern end, close to where the Tortoises are. These guys have a whopping 120 HP, allowing you to do massive damage, along with very good drops. The only drawback is that the battlefield is also littered with level 1 gnomes, who will essentially waste your cannonball if they get hit. However, you can alch without having to worry about being hit, because these guys are too busy fighting their own war to bother attacking you.

As always, do the quests listed at the beginning of this section when boredom strikes. Repeat this method until you have achieved the stats below:

Section 7: Robin Hood Jr

QUESTS: Temple of Ikov*, Nature Spirit*, Animal Magnetism*, Horror From the Deep*, Tears of Guthix*, Big Chompy Bird Hunting*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 42 Thieving, 35 Ranged, 5 Fletching, 30 Cooking, 20 Crafting, 35 Woodcutting, 49 Firemaking, 20 Mining, 18 Slayer, 35 Agility

As a general rule of thumb, keep your ranged and magic levels close together. Currently, they are 20 levels apart. In order to fix that, complete the quests listed above. They not only offer some very useful ranged gear, but sets you up for larger, more rewarding quests in the future.

QUESTS: Lost City*, Goblin Diplomacy, Lost Tribe

SKILLS REQUIRED: 31 Crafting, 36 Woodcutting, 13 Thieving, 17 Mining, 13 Agility

Although you only have 45 Attack, the time has come to introduce dragon weapons. Complete the Lost City Quest, but buy your Dragon Longsword and Super-poisoned Dragon Dagger from the Grand Exchange. You cannot wield them yet, but you will be able to by the end of the next section.

Section 9: The Calm Before the Storm

QUESTS: Digsite*, Tourist Trap*, Troll Stronghold*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 25 Thieving, 15 Agility, 10 Herblore, 20 Smithing

This section prepares you for one of the most difficult quests in Runescape: Desert Treasure. As this section is relatively short, you might want to consider raising Firemaking to level 50, and Thieving to level 53, as you’ll need all these requirements in the next section.

SKILLS ACHIEVED: 33 Mining, 14 Herblore, 50 Firemaking, 53Thieving, and 2 10K exp lamps to any skill over 30.

Section 10: Desert Treasure

QUESTS: Desert Treasure*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 50 Firemaking, 10 Slayer, 50 Magic, 53 Thieving

So you’ve finally made it. With the completion of the Desert Treasure Quest, you’ll be able to access a completely new branch of Magic. Savor this moment, for you have earn it. If you’ve followed the guide up until now, you should have at least level 70 Magic, which allows you to cast Ice Burst. Save this spell for when you need it most – the runes for it are not cheap.

Section 11: Monkey Madness

QUESTS: Monkey Madness*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 43 Prayer

Consult the Knowledge Base on how to make it to the Jungle Demon at the end. With your particular skills, you’ll want to bring you cannon and at least 100 cannonballs with you to your final fight. Freeze the Demon with Ice Burst and let the cannon do its work. While the cannon is blasting away, you should also be ranging it, preferably with an adamant crossbow or higher. After the completion of the quest, you’ll have the Quest requirements to wield a Dragon Scimitar. Next to a Saradomin Sword, this is the fastest weapon to train Strength with. However, you currently only have 45 Attack, and you need 60 to wield it. Don’t get it up just yet. Talk first with Daero in the Grand Tree, and he will give you further experience. He will give you 35K exp in 2 melee skills of your choice and 20K exp in the other 2 melee skills. Use the 35K exp on Strength and Hitpoints.

QUESTS: Heroes’ Quest*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 25 Herblore, 50 Mining, 53 Fishing, 53 Cooking, 43 Prayer, 23 Agility, 23 Thieving, 55 Quest Points

The most difficult part of this quest is perhaps finding a partner from a rival gang. On the Runescape forums, there’s a sticky under the Quests section specifically designed for people looking for partners. Look under that thread if you’re having trouble. At the completion of the quest, you’ll have the ability to enter the Heroes’ Guild and wield the Dragon Battleaxe and Mace. Buy one of each. The Dragon Battleaxe will play a heavy role in Section 14.

Section 13: The Void Pure

QUESTS: Underground Pass*, Regicide*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 56 Agility, 25 Ranged

Head over to the Void Knight Outpost and board the low level ship. Your goal in this Section is to obtain all 3 sets of Void armor. This is the reason why you have 42 Defence – for Void. For each low level Pest Control game you win, you are rewarded 2 Pest Point as coins equal to your combat level X 10. It will take a total of 1250 Pest Points to purchase all 3 sets, but this shouldn’t take longer than a week. Punctuate your Pest Control games with the Underground Pass and Regicide quests. These are very long, so it’s likely that they’ll last until you have all 3 sets of this wondrous armor.

Tips:

-Use the Dragon Battleaxe special at the beginning of every game
-After the completion of Regicide, purchase a Dragon Halberd and use its special attack on the portal
-When a crowd of pests gather together, cast Ice Burst on them all

Full Void Ranged Effect: Permanent 10% boost to your Ranged. It’s like having the Hawk Eye prayer on forever.

Full Void Melee Effect: Permanent 10% boost to Attack and Strength. It’s like having the Superhuman Strength and Improved Reflexes prayers on forever.

Full Void Magic Effect: Permanent 30% boost to Magic. It’s like having 2 everlasting Mystic Might prayers on at the same time.

The bottom line is that the void armor set is well worth your time. The money and exp you get from Pest Control isn’t bad either. More importantly though, is the unique ability of the Void Pure to hybrid. Instead of loading your entire inventory with 3 different sets of armor, all a Void Pure needs to do is switch the helm and they’re ready to go. No pure is as good at hybriding as a Void Pure.

Section 14: Robin Hood

QUESTS: Wolf Whistle*, Shilo Village*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 32 Agility, 20 Crafting

This is the section where we truly stray away from the traditional path of the pure. As the poetic master Robert Frost said:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I — I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

This certainly will make all the difference, and in a hugely advantageous way. With the introduction of Summoning, making money has never been easier. Summoning will not affect your combat level when you don’t have a familiar following you. You’ll be able to utilize all that summoning has to offer without it handicapping you in PvP worlds. Wow!

Start by buying 30K iron knives from the Grand Exchange. Equip your full void ranged, Ava*s Accumulator, snakeskin boots (or ranger boots if you have them), unholy book, amulet of glory (or fury if you have one) and a ring of wealth (or an archer’s ring if you have it). In your inventory, have 20 full ranged potions. Enter the Taverly dungeon and head over to the room with the Hill Giants. Chances are, you’ll be the only player there. This is a fantastic place to train, and either not many people know about it, or don’t realize it’s potential. Take a sip of your Ranged potion, and let all hell break loose on the Hill Giants. This is great ranged exp, 55K per hour at level 70, 60K per hour at level 80 and up to 65K per hour at level 90+. This was the method I used to train my pure’s Ranged from 70 to 94. Train your Ranged here until to least level 90.

Collect all charms that the Hill Giants drop. Other items worth collecting are the stackable iron and steel arrows. While they might not seem like much, it adds up rather quickly, and steel arrows are a necessity when making more of Ava*s Accumulators.

SKILLS ACHIEVED: 90 Ranged, 4 Summoning, 44 Prayer

Section 15: Merlin

QUESTS: Lunar Diplomacy*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 40 Defence, 49 Firemaking, 5 Herblore, 65 Magic, 60 Mining, 61 Crafting, 55 Woodcutting

At this point, your pure is still barely a threat in the PvP world. You’re currently a level 80. With 90 Ranged, ranged potion, eagle eyes and rune bolts, you could hit up to 36. This will easily allow you to win in deathmatches, but you lack the knockout power of a Strength pure. No worries, we have something much more effective than a dds special. This will be discussed in a later section.

Get the skills listed above and complete the Lunar Diplomacy Quest. Congratulations, you now have access to the Lunar Spellbook! Although this spellbook isn’t very effective combat-wise alone, combining it with the right equipment and skills makes this the most useful spellbook of all. This will be discussed in detail later on.

After you finish the quest, head to the bank in Seers Village. Equip the following items: Ring of Wealth, Full Void Mage, Amulet of Glory/Fury, Mystic/Infinity Boots, Ancient Staff and the Unholy Book. Your inventory should consist of: 15 Prayer potions, 4 pieces of the Dwarf-Multicannon, 1K stacked cannonballs, 1 Teleport Tab, 4K Chaos runes, 4K Water runes and 2K Death runes.

Head up in to the Waterbirth Island Dungeon. Turn on Protect from Melee and run to the area with Rock Lobsters. Immediately set up your cannon, load it with cannonballs and start firing. This section of the dungeon is multi-combat, so they’ll attack you all at once. The good news is, you can attack them all at once too. Stand side by side with your cannon and Ice Burst the hell out of them. They’ll drop dead at your feet like rocks - literally. They drop two charms at a time, with most of them being crimson. Collect them until you either run out of runes or prayer potions. Pick up your cannon and teleport out.

SKILLS ACHIEVED: 75 Magic and access to the Lunar Spellbook

Section 16: Becoming a Legend

QUESTS: Legends Quest*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 42 Prayer, 45 Herblore, 50 Agility, 50 Crafting, 50 Smithing, 50 Strength, 50 Thieving, 50 Woodcutting, 52 Mining, 56 Magic, 108 Quest Points

Head over to the Legends Guild and pass through the gates. Talk to Radimus Erkle to formally start the Quest. After completing this quest on two accounts, I’ve realized that it*s not nearly as difficult as it seems. This quest takes about half the effort of Monkey Madness. Upon completion, you’ll have access to the Cape of Legends, which is the equivalent of an Obsidian Cape, only 250K cheaper, along with 7650 exp in 4 skills of your choice. You’ll also have access to the Shadow Warriors in the basement – the best possible way to collect Crimson Charms.

Section 17: Additional Accessories

QUESTS: Roving Elves*, Recipe for Disaster: Dwarf*, Pirate Pete*, Goblins*, Skrach “Bone Crusher” Uglogwee*, Lumbridge Guide*, Evil Dave*, Sir Amik Varze*

SKILLS REQUIRED: 90+ Ranged, 43 Prayer, 41 Cooking, 20 Firemaking, 10 Mining,

So you’ve got the legends cape – how many pures have that? Just a handful. This section of the IPG is all about absorbing the satisfaction of creating such an exceptional pure. You will be getting items that other pures won’t ever get a chance at. We’ll be progressing from the easiest items to the most difficult.

Target 1: Rune Defender. As you have 70 Strength and 60 Attack, you’ll be able to enter the warrior’s guild. I recommend full black as the armor set to use on the magical animator. Work your way up through the various defenders until you reach rune. Always keep at least 2 rune defenders in your bank as a safety net.

Target 2: Ghostly Robes. At the completion of The Restless Ghost and Desert Treasure, you have the option of doing a mini-quest for a set of nice looking ghostly robes. Equip your ring of visibility and ghostspeak amulet, and head over to Glarial’s tomb. The ghost there will set you on your way.

Target 3: Shadow Sword. This is a nice looking sword and a fine addition to your new ghostly robes. Wear your full ghostly, ghostspeak amulet and ring of visibility. Just south of the Fremennik village, you’ll see the ghost of the General Khazard you killed in the Fight Arena quest. Speak to him and he’ll send you on your quest for the Shadow Sword.

Section 17: Additional Accessories (continued)

Target 4: Fighter Torso. Teleport to the Barbarian Outpost and start playing the Barbarian Assault mini-game. Your goal is to buy the fighter torso, which costs 375 points in each skill with a queen kill required. This should take you no longer than 2 days.

Target 5: Complete the Roving Elves Quest. You will now be able to choose either a Crystal Bow or a Crystal Shield as your rewards. Obviously, choose the bow.

Target 6: Fire Cape. Teleport to Karamja and enter the city of TzHaar. As there are countless guides out there on how to get a Firecape, I won’t go through it in detail. However, you should have no problem defeating TzTok-Jad with 90 Ranged. Just keep your cool and you’ll do fine. Diamond bolts (e) are recommended.

Target 7: Rune Gloves. Complete all the subquests listed under the Recipe for Disaster quest, with the exception of Awowogei. His meal requires 70 cooking, a skill that’s unnecessary to get at this point. You already have every pre-requisite to save all other members of the table. Rune gloves are extraordinary: +8 to all attack and defence stats, except for Magic (+4) and Prayer (+0). Stock up on them – they’re only 5K each!

Target 8: H’ween Mask. I’m completely serious – this is fully achievable. However, we’ll reserve Target 8 for Section 23.

If you’ve made it this far, please accept my sincere congratulations. Your pure is now unique in its own right. However, we are not done yet. It was hinted at the beginning of Section 16 that while your pure is already adept in long fights, it lacks the ability to make quick kills. This is what we’ll focus on in the last few sections.

Section 18: Breaking Barriers

QUESTS: None

SKILLS REQUIRED: 4 Summoning

Take a look at all the charms you’ve collected. These should include the drops from green dragons, rock lobster and hill giants. Of course, the majority of your charms should be gold. However, these give the least amount of exp. What you’re looking for are crimson and blue charms. Start by purchasing 50K spirit shards and 5000 pouches from Pikkupstix. You’re now ready to start summoning. If you’re ever short of charms, you have a cache of crimson charm droppers in the basement of the Legends Guild. Use them to your advantage.

Your goal in this section is 52 Summoning. Listed below is the best method to get there, in terms of efficiency, the charms you already have, and the exp per charm.

1. From level 4, make 266 Dreadfowl pouches to get to 16 Summoning (Gold)
2. From level 16, make 374 Granite Crab pouches to get to 28 Summoning (Gold)
3. From level 28, make 150 Compost Mound pouches to get to 33 Summoning (Green)
4. From level 33, make 354 Honey Badger pouches to get 46 Summoning (Crimson)
5. From level 46, make 59 Iron Minotaur pouches to get 49 Summoning (Blue)
6. From level 49, make 149 Bloated Leech pouches to finally achieve 52 Summoning (Crimson)

I suggest you buy the Spirit Terrorbird pouches and Tireless Run scrolls instead of making them yourself. Not only does this save time, but it also saves a considerable amount of money as well.
